How do schools in the USA work

How do schools in the USA work?
How do high school in the USA work. I know they have freshmen to Seniors. What about classes, do they change it every year? Can Seniors take certain classes why Sophomores take others? Also, what are the names of lessons? Like in the UK, we have PE while they/you have Gym. Please help.

yes classes change every year for example 9th grade u would usually have algebra.... world history...... physical science......english....... gym......... lunch/study hall.......and u would pick another elective such as a language. 10th grade which i am in now.....i have......biology....american government............english.....geometry.........lunch/study hall.........german 2..........gym 11th grade.....chemisrty........algebra 2.....english...us history and so on. for my school we have 7 classes and u get to pick 2 of them and/or if u decide to wake up early to take an extra class that would be 3 extra classes. yes there are some classes that are only for juniors and seniors while others are for everyone.it just depends on that subject. some people here also call it PE but usually gym....um well we call ours english math science same thing really but i dont say science i say im gonna go to biology. i hope this helped :)
