If he is classified as an international student, and is here on a certain type of visa, he may be eligible to attend one year only of public high school. That is the maximum allowed for some classifications. Also, he would have to pay the full cost of education to the public school, that is federal law and cannot be waived. The amount depends on the state, but states like NY and NJ it would likely be $15,000+, other states should be less. Also, just because the law allows an international student with the correct visas to attend public school does not mean the school must allow them to attend. Very often the school will not admit these students, too much red tape and hassle, and especially if they are not living with their parents. There were too many helicopter kids, kids (often Asian) who were dropped off with "family friends or guardians", who were really people paid to say they were guardians. These kids got into trouble because they were basically living unsupervised on their own, and the schools had to get involved. That is why many public schools will not take international students who do not live with their parent, and very few private schools will anymore. The best thing your friend can do is to speak to his parent and find out the type of visa and look up the laws regarding it. Good luck!

should the USA flag be banned in USA schools?
many many mexicans are offended by the flag and would rather have the mexican flag in the classrooms. just look at texas, some kid got suspended just for taking down the Mexican flag in an American school. search it up...

like they say, when in rome, if they want to go to there own private mexican schools and fly there mexican flags in there, then that's all right with me, but as long as they go to an american school that's the way it is, since we live in a very diverse country there is no way to please everyone.

Would it really kill you if they flew BOTH flags...*gasp* I know that eliminating conflict thru compromiseimise isnt nearly as fun as running around screaming "THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!" but trust me, the world would keep spinning, planes wouldnt fall from the sky, the lakes and rivers wouldnt turn to blood...etc etc... besides...whats so bad about Mexican Americans being proud of their heritage??? People need to only be in this country if this is where they truely want to be. If they are here but don't consider themselves as Americans then they should be sent packing. This isn't a place just to collect a paycheck.

I think there needs to be some serious house cleaning, and we need to start with the likes of Sharpton, Jackson, and all the idiots who have lived in an Alice and Wonderland Bubble all their lives, who are clueless to what's going on in the world. It's just getting freaking ridiculous the BS going on now a days, politician have got everybody so scared to offend a minority that the being proud to be an American is becoming un-American, why is everything so a$$backwards, sad.

That kid you are talking about raised the mexican flag with the American flag below it upside down and this happen in the Klein school district so get your story straight.if I had anything to do with it he would have gotten a hell a lot more than 3 days suspension.I don't give a damn if these mexicans are offended this is the US if they don't like it they can leave.
