Anyone can go to a public school.

If he is classified as an international student, and is here on a certain type of visa, he may be eligible to attend one year only of public high school. That is the maximum allowed for some classifications. Also, he would have to pay the full cost of education to the public school, that is federal law and cannot be waived. The amount depends on the state, but states like NY and NJ it would likely be $15,000+, other states should be less. Also, just because the law allows an international student with the correct visas to attend public school does not mean the school must allow them to attend. Very often the school will not admit these students, too much red tape and hassle, and especially if they are not living with their parents. There were too many helicopter kids, kids (often Asian) who were dropped off with "family friends or guardians", who were really people paid to say they were guardians. These kids got into trouble because they were basically living unsupervised on their own, and the schools had to get involved. That is why many public schools will not take international students who do not live with their parent, and very few private schools will anymore. The best thing your friend can do is to speak to his parent and find out the type of visa and look up the laws regarding it. Good luck!

yes, and the US tax $
2 :
I will die before I allow our own flag to be banned. If you love your country so much, stay there. This is America. The one with stars and the stripes.
3 :
What! NO.
4 :
No, but no other nation's flag should be flown unless done so in the prescribed manner (the other flag not being larger than the U.S. flag and flown lower on the mast).
5 :
Sure. You're not meant to be taught jingoism in the classroom.
6 :
like they say, when in rome, if they want to go to there own private mexican schools and fly there mexican flags in there, then that's all right with me, but as long as they go to an american school that's the way it is, since we live in a very diverse country there is no way to please everyone.
7 :
Damn you guys are really running with this one aren't you?
8 :
Would it really kill you if they flew BOTH flags...*gasp* I know that eliminating conflict thru compromiseimise isnt nearly as fun as running around screaming "THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!" but trust me, the world would keep spinning, planes wouldnt fall from the sky, the lakes and rivers wouldnt turn to blood...etc etc... besides...whats so bad about Mexican Americans being proud of their heritage??? I mean if somebody told you to take down your nazi flag, or your confederate flag...would you be offended???
9 :
NO. Teach the kids what it is supposed to stand for; without personal or private interest group interpretation.
10 :
People need to only be in this country if this is where they truely want to be. If they are here but don't consider themselves as Americans then they should be sent packing. This isn't a place just to collect a paycheck.
11 :
I think there needs to be some serious house cleaning, and we need to start with the likes of Sharpton, Jackson, and all the idiots who have lived in an Alice and Wonderland Bubble all their lives, who are clueless to what's going on in the world. "yes sir". "absolutely sir". "can I kiss your a,ss, sir?". 'thank you, sir"
12 :
It's just getting freaking ridiculous the BS going on now a days, politician have got everybody so scared to offend a minority that the being proud to be an American is becoming un-American, why is everything so a$$backwards, sad.
13 :
Ah - I like the way they put it here - http://www.collegehumor.com/video:1888086
14 :
NO! If they are offended tough. They are American now ,If they are illegals then go home. No harm done.
15 :
No, but the schools need to practice flying them correctly. The only flag that is to be flown on the same pole with the U.S. flag is the P.O.W. M.I.A. flag
16 :
The amount of racist twats on this website is ridiculous However, the flag shouldn't be banned, but maybe they should stick other flags up too - America's the "land of equality" after all
17 :
No, because we are America. IF you're story is true, maybe Junior should have minded his own business rather than vandalizing school property - jeez it's just a flag!
18 :
Are you kidding me? THIS IS AMERICA! Americans pay for the schools not Mexicans. I have a lot of Mexican friends, naturalized and foreign, and they all love America! Say the pledge of allegiance to the AMERICAN flag like we used to do. Whatever happened to respect in this country for our flag?
19 :
That kid you are talking about raised the mexican flag with the American flag below it upside down and this happen in the Klein school district so get your story straight.if I had anything to do with it he would have gotten a hell a lot more than 3 days suspension.I don't give a damn if these mexicans are offended this is the US if they don't like it they can leave.
