Yeah I think you would. I am from Hollywood California and we have alot of preppy people here but i think you would fit in.
2 :
you shallow worm. this is not a travel question.

If you were a U.S. citizen, and a California resident "fitting In" would not necessarily be the problem. Education here is compulsory until the age of 16 so you really don't have an option. You must attend school whether you "fit in" or not. However teens everywhere are relatively similar. High schools here are no more or less clickish than schools anywhere else in the world. Its part of learning how to get along with others.

Pup's right. I would put you in the "insecure teen" clique. Seriously, it's no big deal. You'd probably attract some attention because of your accent, and you're from Scotland. But it IS pretty shallow and vain, posting your picture and worrying about "fitting in". Everyone worries about that. Is this even a possibility, or just your fantasy?
5 :
Ahh high school memories. I remembered ALL the foreign exchange students got the MOST attention and were treated like gods. I made friends with one from Belgium and on her Facebook, she has 300+ friends (and that's from the US alone!) I hope your trip to the US will help you change your insecure ways.
6 :
You will be just fine, especially because you are from Scotland on exchange. That will be exciting to most of your peers. I just hope your fellow students can find that on a map. I work with high schools students from all over the world, and it's amazing how alike teenagers are, no matter where they are from. Don't worry about a thing! (...and it's "clique", by the way...)
7 :
yeah i think you would

You're a cute girl, you have a cool accent. No problem! Don't worry about cliques. You'll find a place to fit in. = )

espanola valley high, one of the best anywayzZz...we take top 5 in state every year, and we also do many different national compitions.
2 :
In February of 2008, in Orlando, Florida, 8,000 high-school cheerleaders participated in "Varsity's" 28th Annual Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) National High School Cheerleading Championships. "Varsity" is the sponsor of the event held under the auspices of the UCA. UCA annually holds approximately 100 competitions throughout the country, and the national championships attract the best teams throughout the nation. Teams competed in 17 categories from the "Small Junior High School" category to the "Super Varsity High School" category. The event was viewed by more than 25,000 spectators, and the ESPN broadcast later in February, 2008, reached an estimated 90 million homes. The most prestigious of the competitions is for the "Super Varsity" title. In 2008, the "Super Varsity" title was awarded to the squad from BOB JONES HIGH SCHOOL in MADISON, ALABAMA (650 Hughes Rd., Madison, AL 35758). It is the third consecutive year that the BOB JONES HIGH SCHOOL Cheerleaders have been the National Champions.

Where is the best school system in the USA

Where is the best school system in the USA?
My husband is VERY set on staying in California (in the bay area to be exact...around Palo Alto - Cupertino to be more exact) for the next 20 so years because the bay area has the resources he needs for his entrepreneurship and he believes it has some of the best schools in the USA. I'm not too fond of California, no offense. 1) It is very expensive to live here (in the bay area)...frankly we are getting more and more broke each month *ahem* 2) I don't like the warmth and mugginess. I would like somewhere more affordable (also safe and family-friendly) and cooler. He is faulting me for being selfish and not considering our kids' future/education. Those things I mentioned are just the first things that jump to my mind when thinking about staying in California, not that I don't care about our kids or their education. I just don't find the weather very pleasant or the bay area being very budget-friendly...that's all. I personally don't know if what he said is true about the bay area having some of the best schools in the nation; I know Stanford is here. I tried googling the national school ranking but were only able to find school rankings listed state-by-state. Right now he is very determined to have our kids attend Murdok-Portal because "it's the best." And of course, if I want anything but the best for our kids...I'm bad...selfish...etc. Sorry I rambled. So is Murdok-Portal really the best (elementary school) in the nation? Does the bay area really have the best school system? Where is the best school system in the USA? Please state sources.

It is very true that California does have some of the best school systems in the nation! If you would like somewhere cooler and more family-friendly, try moving up north to towns like Grass Valley. It is a little bit cheaper to live there, though it can still be more expensive than other places. It has great education for young people, especially Scotten School, which really has the best teachers. After living in Grass Valley and then moving out of the state, I would do anything to move back because the schools there are really SOO much better than any others, anywhere!, that I've seen. The middle school, Lyman Gilmore, is really great too! The schools just really get the kids with a good relationship to the teachers and gets them on a fantastic start. Kids that come from Scotten or Lyman Gilmore all have wonderful behavior and are very nice young kids with good morals. Besides, Murdok-Portal isn't the highest-ranked elementary school in California; it's ranked 8th among other elementary schools according to schooldigger.com. If you click on the website below, you can make a search for the highest ranked schools in the subject(s), test(s), student to teacher ratio, and other things, or all of them combined. http://www.schooldigger.com/go/CA/schoolrank.aspx So I would say, go for a compromise and move somewhere north into a smaller town like Grass Valley, or find a better school up north! You obviously aren't happy in the Bay Area (we weren't either!), but education is still very important to you, so compromise with your husband. Good luck! ~KLove

Murdock-Portal is the 84th best school in America (out of elementary, middle, and high schools.) There are at least 9 elementary schools ranked higher. However, the top 5 schools in the United States can all be found in Massachusettes (5th: Sharon, MA. 4th: Winchester, MA. 3rd: Boston, MA. 2nd: Medfield, MA. 1st: Dover, MA.) If you want to search reviews and statistics for specific schools, try this website: http://www.publicschoolreview.com Hope this helped! -Araic

Best animation school in the USA

Best animation school in the USA?
Hi! I'm an italian boy and my dream is to study in an animation school (or experimental animation) in the USA. Actually I'm attending the NABA in Milan, in the course of Media Design (www.naba.it). I looked in the web searching for a good art school and I found a lot of beautiful schools but I cannot understand which is the best one. For example I saw the CalArts, the California College of the Arts and other but I can't find out the best one. Can you give a sort of list with the best art schools (with animation courses) in the USA? Thanx :)

its a hard question because there is no "best" school for animation. schools with good reputations are CalArts, Art Center, Ringling, etc. but i think you should go to school in California, because a lot of movies, tv, etc is there. It all depends how good you are, but if you heard of Cal Arts all the way in Italy, it must be a great animation school you know what i am saying?

There is no best school. There are a lot of good schools in a lot of countries. Studios like Pixar don't look at what school you come from, they look at what you can do: your demo reel. The recipe: go to a good school and work very very hard and do an awesome demo reel.
