This is entirely dependent on what method of therapy or therapies you prescribe to (ie. ABA, Floortime, SonRise, etc).

I have to agree that it's subjective as to which is the "best" since there are so many types and you might or might not agree with the fundimentals of a particular method. I recommend you collect info from as many sources as possible and look through them. If something doesn't feel right to you then I advise you go with your gut instincts. Just keep in mind that the earlier the intervention, the better. Also, depending on where on the spectrum the child is (ie, how mild-severe his autism is) will affect the outcome. With a preschool aged child, I believe it's important to have a home program that works with the school program as closely as possible or at least doesn't conflict with it. Good Luck and God Bless

There's a great school in Baltimore. It's Kennedy Krieger Institute's LEAP program. They use ABA (applied behavioral analysis) and TEACCH. They also offer services with a music therapist, art therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, aquatics instructor, physical education instructor. Speech and occupational therapy usually happens both individually and as a group. The kids have music, art, computers, PE, swim, and library at least once a week all year round (it's an extended school year program). Their pool is an indoor therapy pool. The school goes from ages 5-21 and has close to a 1:1 ratio of staff to students. They also have an awesome sensory room, complete with soothing sounds, columns of bubbles, fiber optic lights, etc. It's a great program
