I'm currently a high school student in USA with 3.9gpa. I know becoming a doctor is what i want, and I will do anything to become a doctor. I am still in dilemma, whether I go to 4 year university and med school in Philippines or stay here in California, USA. California is having a major budget cuts and tuition fees are very expensive, unlike in Philippines, it's much cheaper. But the quality of education is still better in USA. What i want is to be out of debt by the time I graduate which seems impossible if I study in USA.

Study in the Philippines is an option. You may know that at most universities in the Philippines, instruction begins at what is about the eleventh grade level in the US as the primary and secondary programs there usually total only ten years, not twelve. The best university in the Philippines is the University of Santo Tomas and I would certainly apply there as well as to others. You will have to pass the exam for foreign medical college graduates if you return to the USA to practice.

You have to take into account that overseas education is very expensive as the fees for overseas students are extremely high. Here in the UK Imperial college London is around £3000 for British citizens but if you're from another country or not an EU member country they are £29,000. Its very likely to be the same case in the Philippines as it is in most countries. I would stay at a University in the US as the education is good and you won't be paying very high fees, you could also seek financial help from the state. You could go to a university in another state.
