The average high most teachers make is about 50,000 a year, but that's after teaching for more than 20 years. If you have a higher degree (Masters), you usually make about 2,000 - 3,000 more.

If you have a particular interest in one region, find the school district's name in Google and seek for their salary scale. The average start for a teacher's salary is about 35,000 a year. Add +2,000 or 3,000 if you have a masters. Specialists have a higher salary (special education teachers). Some school districts have a bonus between 1500 and 7000 dollars if you go to work for them, although with this crisis and budget reductions, I am not sure if they are still doing that. In some states you ca get another bonus if the school passes their annual goals on standardized tests. Between 700 and 1500 more after testing season.
